This Sunday is the feast of the Baptism of Christ: the day when we remember Christ’s own wonderful baptism at the hands of John the Baptist in the River Jordan all those years ago.

Dear Friends,
When are we going to open for public worship? Well, we know it’s possible now and some churches will be open in this way this weekend. But what about us?
In common with most of our local anglican friends, we are being very cautious and studying very carefully instructions which have been sent to us by the government and by the diocese of Manchester. We’re trying to work out how to implement these instructions so that everyone is safe and as far away from covid as it is possible to be when we come into church.
So the answer to the question is – we don’t quite know yet but please watch this space and be assured that we are planning to be open in some shape or form but in a way which is safe for everyone and which is in accord with the directives we have received.
In the meantime please be assured that mass is being offered every day for all of our parish – one of our priests is dutifully doing this on behalf of every one of us. Our weekly eucharist will continue to be broadcast via All Saints and Martyrs website (from St Mary’s BIrch today) and the Sunday sheets and readings are still available via the website. We will keep you informed.
We hope this answers your questions for the moment. We know it’s not an ideal scenario but our prayer continues and the Lord Jesus is still with us in all that we are in every place, in every moment and in every deed we do in his name.
With prayers for God’s blessing on us all,
Your Clergy
